Greetings JYSC Members,
We hope this note finds you all well and enjoying a very exciting summer of soccer between our new programs, training opportunities, summer camps and of course, the World Cup tournament.
On behalf of all of us here at the club, we wanted share our excitement regarding the upcoming fall and spring seasons as we continue to evolve and grow. This letter serves as the club update for all of our members regarding our new club developments and initiatives. Ultimately, we feel compelled to communicate our intentions to take JYSC to the next level by better serving our players and all of families here at Jacksonville’s longest standing soccer club.
This summer we launched the JYSC Select-iD Youth Academy Program. This training program is designed to develop the technical foundation of our players during the summer break in order to bridge the gap between the spring & fall seasons. Our professional staff identified 120 total players ages 8-11 throughout the spring to participate in the inaugural program.
At these ages players have a special ability to learn and we group players by age pool & ability based training. Therefore, this is the right age to work on specific soccer techniques and skills. At these developmental stages, players need to learn the technical skills first in order to be successful farther down the road in their playing career regardless of their level. Teaching a strong foundation of technical skills on which we can build as the player develops is the key focus of this program.
In terms of soccer development, your child is just beginning his/her education. We use the word “education” here because there are many similarities between school and our youth club, which can essentially be considered a soccer school.
Additionally, JYSC recently hosted an USSF E License where more than 10 of JYSC coaches were enrolled in the coaching course. During the course they were introduced to the new coaching methodology of US Soccer as well as best practices. Three more of our coaches participated in the NSCAA National and Advanced National Courses. We will continue to stress the importance of coaching education within our staff. As our educators of the game, by continuing our own professional development all of our members gain and benefit from the increased knowledge ultimately moving our entire club forward.
Our USL Super-Y League teams united the Jacksonville soccer community by offering an elite summer program for all Jacksonville based players. Players from 7 different clubs came together to face elite level competition against other top clubs in state. We were able to offer unique development events and opportunities such as barefoot 4v4, video analysis and weekly competitive rosters. The experience offered to those players has been tremendous and we will look to expand the Super-Y age group offerings next summer.
Leading up to the 2014 fall season all of our competitive Fury teams will take part in a four day preseason Team Camp. The intense four days of preseason training with help our players acclimate to their new coach and teammates before the regular season kicks off.
Senior Boys & Girls program July 28, 29, 30, 31
Junior and Developmental programs August 4, 5, 6 & 7
We hope you all have had a chance to poke around on our new sleeker and more streamlined JYSC.com which is much easier to navigate and utliize. On our new site, you can find how we have restructured in our club to better serve the long term interests of ALL of our members.
JYSC Field Upgrades & Renovations Due to diligent work from our full time field staff and resources contributed by both the club and the city of Jacksonville all three of our home fields continue to improve dramatically. Some of the most visible changes in our fields are detailed below.
Losco Park: With the help of the great city of Jacksonville we were able to complete a massive overhaul of our grass field at Losco Regional Park. Additionally, with a newly forged partnership with the Beaches Adult Soccer League we have been able to help build an 8 foot fence to help secure the new field while offering the Losco turf field to the adult league for their first field available in Duval County.
Earl Johnson: Was shut down all summer for renovations and a 4th field will begin construction in the next few weeks which will allow us as a club to continue adding field space for all of our programs as well as hosting various state and regional events.
Chuck Rogers: We continue to secure funds to help make Chuck Rogers an even more beautiful park. The four full sized fields at our park off of San Jose Blvd served as our home fields for the USL Super-Y League teams all summer. The feedback regarding the progress this park has made over the past 2 years has been tremendous.
All of these upgrades are truly a testament to the club’s commitment to improving all facets of our organization here at JYSC. We are truly a club for the community, as a staff we appreciate your continued support and truly value your membership.
On behalf of all of us here at the club, we are extremely excited about the bright future we have together here at Jacksonville Youth Soccer Club.
Yours In Soccer,
